Francis X. Acunzo has over 30 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge in business development, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, advertising, digital communications, public relations, and branding for medical spas and aesthetic businesses. He is the CEO of medspa810, chairman of the Aesthetic Business Institute and founder of Acara Partners. He is credited with the creation of the first medical spa in the world and is a well-known speaker in the aesthetic medical industry. Throughout his career, Acunzo has actively acquired businesses to build profitable companies. In total, he has executed upon 24 acquisitions involving more than 60 locations. In addition, he has spearheaded the securing of over $90 million to fund his ventures and support Acara’s client efforts.
Bradford E. Adatto, JD
Bradford E. Adatto is a partner at ByrdAdatto, a national business and health care boutique law firm with offices in Dallas and Chicago. His background is in regulatory, transactional and securities law. Having worked in health care law his entire career, he has an in-depth knowledge of the “dos and don’ts” of this heavily regulated industry. Brad has worked with physicians, physician groups, and other medical service providers in developing ambulatory surgical centers, in-office and freestanding ancillary service facilities, and other medical joint ventures. He regularly counsels clients with respect to federal and state health care regulations that impact investments, transactions and contract terms, including Medicare fraud and abuse, antitrust, anti-kickback, anti-referral, and private securities laws. Scott Alten is the managing partner of RxPhoto, a medical aesthetics software that helps providers capture standardized and consistent patient photos, go paperless with digital forms and notes, and showcase treatment results, which increases patient conversions and retention. RxPhoto is used by thousands of practitioners worldwide, and Scott helps practices create a repeatable patient experience in which all staff members can capture consistent photos of every patient, every time.
Sahar Saghezchi Amini
Sahar Saghezchi Amini is the founder of Cupertino Dental and Facial Esthetics, a Bay Area medical spa specializing in medical aesthetics and cosmetic dentistry. She started in plastic surgery as a patient care coordinator, gaining the majority of her experience learning plastic surgery from renowned practitioners. She moved into consulting and assisting medical spas’ grow and expansion. Her passion for aesthetics and her background in practice growth led her to use her expertise to expand her father’s cosmetic dental practice into Cupertino Dental and Facial Esthetics, a specialty center focusing on the face, neck, chest and smile.
Leslie Baumann, MD
Leslie Baumann MD, FAAD, is board-certified dermatologist, researcher and author. She was director of the Division of Cosmetic Dermatology at the University of Miami from 1997- 2006. Her clinical trial research has been instrumental in the FDA approval of Botox, Dysport ,Jeauveau, Kybella, Voluma, Sculptra, Juvéderm, Restylane Silk, UltraShape Power, Ulthera and other aesthetic treatments. Baumann authors a twice-monthly column for the Miami Herald newspaper and a monthly column on cosmeceutical ingredients in Dermatology News. She holds four patents on methods to improve the skin’s health and appearance.
Patrick Bitter Jr., MD
Patrick Bitter Jr., MD is a board-certified dermatologist with practices in Los Gatos, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, and Beverly Hills, California. He is regarded as a pioneer in the use of pulsed light technology for skin rejuvenation. He developed and introduced the acclaimed FotoFacial procedure, which uses IPL for skin rejuvenation, in 1997. Bitter has taught more than 8,000 physicians and nurses around the world in his techniques and innovative applications of pulsed light. He has been featured as a celebrity dermatologist on ABC’s Extreme Makeover and The Aesthetic Show. Bitter focuses his clinical practice on non-surgical treatments to improve skin health and delay aging and anti-aging medicine. He graduated from the University of California with highest honors in biology, and he received his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1982. He has authored several scientific papers on the use of pulsed light for skin rejuvenation.
Judith Borger, DO
Judith Borger, DO, is the medical director of Concierge Medical Arts in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Since 2014, she has worked as physician and core faculty member for the Emergency Medicine Residency at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville. She is actively involved in research, serves as the residency’s research director and has published and presented research on multiple diverse topics. Currently, Borger serves as clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Brittany Brock, PA-C
Brittany Brock, PA-C, is a physician assistant at The Aesthetic Clinique in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She presently works alongside and is mentored by Steven Weiner, MD, a renowned international lecturer, trainer and keynote speaker in the aesthetic industry. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University and went on to obtain her Master of Medical Science of physician assistant studies from Nova Southeastern University in 2015. She began her career in aesthetic medicine in 2016 and has focused on injectable and laser procedures. She also has helped conduct three FDA studies for Lutronic devices. She is actively involved with the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, as well as the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Nathan Bryan, PhD
Nathan S. Bryan, PhD, has been involved in nitric oxide research for the past 19 years. His discoveries and findings have helped transform the development of safe and effective functional bioactive natural products in the treatment and prevention of human disease, and may provide the basis for new preventive or therapeutic strategies in many chronic illnesses. Bryan also is an accomplished entrepreneur who has successfully commercialized his nitric oxide technology, resulting in more than a dozen issued U.S. and international patents. He has published a number of often-cited papers and authored or edited five books. He is an international leader in molecular medicine and nitric oxide biochemistry.

She has 25 years of experience in startup management, with 15 years of MSO ownership in the legal and medical industries, now specializing in non-surgical medical aesthetic practices. Chiaramonte has partnered with numerous respected facial plastic surgeons, as well as family practice physicians and independent APPs, by providing startup capital, guidance and comprehensive oversight of their entry into the medical spa space.
Shawna Chrisman, NP
Shawna Chrisman, NP, combined her passion for medicine, entrepreneurship and aesthetics and started Destination Aesthetics Medical Spa in November 2011 as a solo provider and developed it into a fast-growing medical aesthetics practice. After eight years in business, Destination Aesthetics has grown to three locations (a fourth location is under construction) and currently is ranked the #4 Allergan account in the nation, out of 18,000+ accounts. It was voted the #1 Best Medical Spa by Sacramento Magazine in both 2018 and 2019. In June 2019, Chrisman was a "Women Who Mean Business" honoree by the Sacramento Business Journal, and she has been an Allergan trainer for four years.
With over 27 years of skin care experience, Anna Churchill began her career as a professional makeup artist and licensed aesthetician in South Florida, where she had the opportunity to train under some of the country’s top dermatologists and plastic surgeons. She continued her career as a beauty industry consultant, teaching innovative skin care and business development to dermatologists, plastic surgeons, aestheticians and spa owners in Asia, Canada and the U.S. Prior to consulting, Churchill worked in product formulation and training for clinical skin care companies such as Swissline by Dermalab, NeoStrata and SkinCeuticals. She also has formulated her own line of products, Skin by Synergy, which focuses on hyperpigmentation, correction of aging, acne and other skin conditions.

Renee Coover, JD
Renee E. Coover, JD, is a senior associate attorney at the law firm ByrdAdatto, a national business and health care boutique law firm with offices in Dallas and Chicago. Her background blends litigation with health care law. A former litigator in high-stakes employment cases, she has extensive experience with counseling and representing businesses in employment matters, policies and contract disputes, as well as defending business owners in state and federal trials. She also has served as general counsel for the American Med Spa Association, advising health care professionals on regulatory and legal issues governing the medical spa industry. Alexa Nicholls Costa, NP
Alexa Nicholls Costa, NP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner and one of the leading ladies of Boston-based LexRx and Inject with Lex. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medicine/Health Science, and received both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College. Nicholls Costa worked at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Plastic Surgery Research Laboratory alongside the division chief for three years; during her NP clinical year, she trained at Massachusetts General Hospital in plastic surgery, where she worked to improve the art of injectables.
Courtney Cowan, JD
Courtney P. Cowan is an associate attorney at the law firm ByrdAdatto, a national business and health care boutique law firm with offices in Dallas and Chicago. She focuses her practice on operational, transactional and regulatory matters, advising clients on a wide range of complex health care laws. Sheila Dreyer Van Buskirk
Sheila Dreyer Van Buskirk is the vice president of research and insights for Synchrony Financial. Prior to joining Synchrony Financial, she was a strategic marketer and insights professional for several companies, including Disney, United Healthcare and PacifiCare Health Systems. Kay Durairaj, MD
Kay Durairaj, MD, completed her surgical training at UCLA and is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. She specializes in faces, including surgery for eyelids, rhinoplasty, facelift and neck lift. She has expertise in Botox and neurotoxins, facial injectables, and fillers, and was voted one of the top 100 injectors in the country by her peers. She also has been a pioneer in Sculptra butt injections, using Sculptra to treat hundreds of butts by increasing volume, improving cellulite dimples, and softening stretch marks. Durairaj is chairman of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, California, and she serves as an advisor to multiple aesthetic industry organizations, such as Merz, Allergan, Evolus, Prollenium and Galderma. In addition to her facial plastic expertise, she also is a specialist in head and neck surgery, qualified to treat a full range of ENT medical and surgical procedures. Her range of specialties includes chronic sinusitis; deviated septum; hearing disorders; cancers of the head, neck and skin; sinus surgery and allergies; and radio frequency surgery for snoring, sleep apnea and voice disorders.
Bryan Durocher is the author of Wake Up… Live the Life You Love… in Beauty, and is the founder of Essentials Spa Consulting and Durocher Enterprises. Durocher was named one of the “Top 20 People to Know in the Beauty Industry” by Global Cosmetic Industry magazine, and provides coaching, consulting, global industry trends and marketing solutions for medical spa, spa and industry professionals internationally. Durocher Enterprises has been published in many articles and has provided business education internationally at a variety of national and international industry events.
Louis Frisina is a renowned biotechnology entrepreneur and aesthetics industry thought-leader. He is Harvard-educated, with more than 30 years of success discovering new markets, and founding, leading and building profitable biotech ventures for companies such as Fisher Scientific International, Collagenesis, Q- Med Inc., Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation, GynoPharma and Ares Serono. Frisina has been an advisor to several private equity and hedge funds for M&A and capital raise. He also discovered the aesthetic filler Restylane in Brazil, built the market and sold Restylane to Medicis for $160 million upfront, as well as another $100 million for Perlane and other NASHA injectable products.
Ann Frossard joined SkinSpirit in April 2018 in the role of chief growth officer, bringing strong experience in multiunit management and scaling of businesses. In this newly created role, she is responsible for driving SkinSpirit’s growth, with a focus on new clinic and talent expansion. Prior to joining SkinSpirit, Frossard worked for Starbucks Coffee Company for 15 years. Before Starbucks, she spent 10 years in the consumer packaged goods industry working for Nestlé, Clorox, Proctor & Gamble, and E&J Gallo Winery. Frossard holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a BA in Business Administration from the Honors College at Washington State University. She resides in Seattle with her husband and daughter. She is a member of the local Capitol Hill community and also serves as volunteer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Kelly Gibbs, RN
Kelly Gibbs, RN, has been a nurse for nearly 20 years. For the past 10 years, she has focused her career on being an advanced injector and national trainer and speaker for Allergan. Most recently, she became the founder/CEO of Beauty Co. in Raleigh, North Carolina, an injectables and facial boutique. Before she was making the world beautiful one face at a time, she saved lives and stamped out diseases as a cardiothoracic ICU nurse, burn trauma nurse and ER trauma team nurse. Her intense medical background gave her the thorough knowledge of the full body, facial anatomy and physiology. Her mantra is that she sees beauty in all her patients; her goal is to help keep them beautiful.
Richard Goldfarb, MD
Richard M. Goldfarb, MD, FACS, graduated from the Chicago Medical School at Finch University of Health Sciences with top honors in Surgery. He completed his surgical training at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. He did additional training in cosmetic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Plastic Surgery and Yale University. Goldfarb’s combined 30 years of experience in general, vascular and cosmetic surgery provides his patients with the surgical expertise they are seeking. He established the Center for SmartLipo & Plastic Surgery in 2007 and joined Apollo Med Innovations as Medical Director in 2019.
Justin Harper, MD
Justin Harper, MD, is an aesthetic physician and health care technology innovator. He founded Juvly Aesthetics, and grew it to 12 locations in five states and $13.5 million in revenue in less than five years. In 2016, he founded Aesthetic Record, an all-in-one EMR and practice management software company used by more than 1,000 practices across the world. He is an advisor and national trainer for Allergan, Galderma and Evolus, and course director at Aesthetic Next. He is known for his approach to non-surgical total face and body rejuvenation and his data-centric approach to building and scaling successful aesthetic practices.
Meredith Harris, NP
Meredith Harris, NP, is the owner of New Life Aesthetics in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a leading injection specialist, she brings a decade of experience in aesthetic enhancements from her Florida and North Carolina clinical practice. Harris pursued undergraduate studies in physiology and neuroscience at the University of California, and later completed a second undergraduate degree in nursing at Loma Linda University, where she was inducted into the International Honor Society of Nursing. In 1998, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania as a nurse practitioner in Women’s Health. In 2017, Harris was recognized with an Award of Excellence for the Best in Nursing by the American Health Council; in 2018, she was honored with a membership as a Pinnacle Professional of the Continental Who’s Who of National Business Leaders. Harris also travels extensively to teach and train new and advanced injectors throughout the country and offers customized consultant services that focus on aesthetic education and practice growth.
Ben Hernandez is a partner at Skytale Group who specializes in strategic management consulting for various service industries. He also offers his clients corporate-level financial analysis and guidance. As a co-founder of Skytale Group, Ben is passionate about leading an organization that people are proud to work with. He serves his clients not only with years of experience and service industry expertise, but also through upholding the Skytale core values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and fun. He loves to help small business owners achieve their dreams, aspirations, and visions. Previously, Ben has worked with an international investment banking group, a financial services and advisory institution, a hedge fund, and CPA and advisory firms.
Lynn Heublein is the CEO and co-founder of SkinSpirit Holdings, LLC, a chain of medically supervised skin care clinics and spas that is the country’s leading provider of treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers. She is also the chairwoman of Foxeye Robotics, a company focused on automation within the beauty category. Prior to working at SkinSpirit, Heublein served as President and COO of Hearme.com, a company that provided VOIP services; EVP of business development and co-founder of Catapult Entertainment, a network gaming platform; VP of marketing at THQ, a software game developer; and brand manager at Procter & Gamble. She received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA from Stanford University.
George Baxter-Holder, DNP
George Baxter-Holder, DNP, has first-hand knowledge of how beauty-obsessed today’s Hollywood actors are. As a child actor in Hollywood, he played the role of a genetically perfect boy on Star Trek: The Next Generation; his “bad boy” character made all around him start to age prematurely. In real life, Baxter-Holder plays the “good guy” role. Trained as a board-certified aesthetic nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice, he helps patients reverse the signs of aging at SkinSpirit Medical Spa in Bellevue, Washington. He holds a Doctorate from Duke University and a Master’s from the University of Washington. And while he is no longer “genetically perfect,” he is working on aging well.
Lawrence Janowski, MD
Raised in New Jersey, Lawrence Janowski, MD, graduated The Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey in 1999. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in 2002, and moved to Colorado in 2004 to begin practicing aesthetic medicine in 2005. He is now the medical director of Sonata Aesthetics in Broomfield, Colorado, and his areas of expertise include injectables, non-surgical thread lifting, gas plasma resurfacing, liposuction and facial fat grafting. He has been a regional trainer for several aesthetic companies, including Galderma, Suneva, Bovie and MINT PDO.
Thomas Jeneby, MD
Thomas T. Jeneby, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who practices cosmetic surgery in San Antonio, Texas. Since 2002, he has changed the lives of more than 7,000 patients. Jeneby matriculated into the prestigious two-spot Integrated Plastic Surgery program at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2002. He performs surgery in his Joint Commission-accredited office-based surgicenter and runs this, his practice and two medical spas, Spa Black. Jeneby recently finished his book Confessions of a Plastic Surgeon and is giving 20% of net income to Family Violence and Prevention Center; he has performed free reconstruction on victims of family violence for the last 10 years.
Patrick L. Johnson
Patrick L. Johnson is the CEO and president of BioPhotas Inc., and the inventor of the award-winning Celluma Series of light therapy devices. With an extensive background in the medical device industry, he saw the potential for bringing the significant therapeutic benefits of low-level light therapy affordably to the masses, leading to the founding of BioPhotas. Prior to BioPhotas, his leadership experience includes 10 years with Pro-Dex, Inc., a publicly held medical device manufacturer, serving in the roles of chief business development officer, CEO and president, and board member. Johnson left Pro-Dex in early 2010 to start a humanitarian relief organization, The World Bed Project. This organization builds strategic alliances with governments, NGOs, corporations and individuals to bring badly needed relief to Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake. Johnson now speaks internationally and writes extensively on the benefits of low-level light therapy.
Tiphany Hall Lopez, PhD, MBA, CAC
Tiphany Hall Lopez, PhD, MBA, CAC serves as chief growth officer at Aesthetic Record, an all-in-one EMR and practice management solution that is bringing a simple yet sophisticated data-centric approach to running a profitable aesthetic clinic. While technology innovation is her passion, Lopez has spent the past 13 years working with Fortune 500 companies to standardize their “people-intensive” operations, from front-line associates to C-suite executives. She has worked in the trenches, scaling business operations for companies such as Walmart, Dillard’s, Tyson Foods, Proctor & Gamble and Nestlé, among others. Lopez led a training organization in the aesthetic industry, where she was known for constant innovation-building technology platforms to assist in injection-related education and creating programs that redefined the learning experience for nearly 15,000 clinicians per year. For the past two years, she has traveled the country providing practice management education and business skills training for practice owners and managers. Her favorite projects combine her love of technology, data analytics and people management to create meaningful change for companies of all sizes.
David Mandell, JD
David B. Mandell, JD, MBA, is a partner at OJM Group. He is an attorney, author and authority in the fields of risk management, asset protection and wealth management. Mandell is co-author of the books For Doctors Only: A Guide to Working Less & Building More, Wealth Management Made Simple and the Category I CME monograph Risk Management for the Practicing Physician. He has published articles in more than 50 medical publications and has addressed many of the nation’s leading medical conferences. Mandell graduated with honors from Harvard University; his law degree is from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for achievement in legal ethics. While at UCLA, he also earned an MBA from the Anderson School of Management.
Shelby Miller, DNP, FNP-C
Shelby Miller is the founder of RUMA Medical Aesthetics. She is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a doctorate degree from Gonzaga University. Miller is a skilled cosmetic injector and is known in the medical aesthetic industry for producing natural, transformative results. She founded RUMA Training and has personally educated hundreds of medical providers in the aesthetic community. Miller is a national speaker and trainer for Allergan and Galderma. She is proactive, detail-oriented, and constantly trying to learn, grow and improve her aesthetic skills. She has a passion for helping her patients become the best form of themselves.
Audrey Neff is the marketing director for Inc. 500 company, Crystal Clear Digital Marketing, and is seasoned in the development and execution of fully integrated marketing strategies. Neff actively contributes to continuing medical education throughout the aesthetic arena and is a faculty speaker for the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), Age Management Medicine Group (AMMG), American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), The Aesthetic Academy, The Aesthetic Show, Vegas Cosmetic Surgery (VCS), Miami Cosmetic Surgery (MCS), AmSpa’s Medical Spa Show, and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM).
Candace is a licensed aesthetician and master trainer for DermaConcepts, exclusive distributor of Environ Skin Care in the U.S., and hosts advanced trainings on this pharmaceutical-grade line. She holds certificates for internationally recognized programs, including advanced skin analysis, dermal needling and oncology aesthetics, and is a proficient public speaker at medical and skin care conferences throughout the U.S. Her belief is to never stop learning, in hopes of sharing the knowledge gained by her continued studies. Born in South Africa and having personal experience battling melasma, she feels her passion for skin care is her biggest asset.
Patrick Armstrong O’Brien, JD
Patrick Armstrong O’Brien, JD, grew up in West Texas loving the outdoors and scouting, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. After attending Southwestern University, he worked in margin trading with a major investment brokerage. He returned to school and earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. He brings his legal training and business acumen to AmSpa to help members keep up with legislative changes.
Stanley Okoro, MD, FACS
Internationally renowned double board-certified plastic surgeon Stanley Okoro, MD, FACS, graduated from Meharry Medical College, completed surgical training at Emory University and then finished an additional three-year training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He served in the U.S. Navy, achieving the rank of commander, and as the chief of plastic surgery. Okoro is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He has extensive experience in cosmetic plastic surgery of the face, breast and body at both his Atlanta practice and his international locations in Nigeria.

Alexandra Rogers, NP

Jonathan M. Sykes, MD, is professor emeritus and former director of facial plastic surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. Nikolay Turovets, PhD, is CEO of DefenAge Skincare and the inventor and scientist behind the company’s defensin anti-aging technology.
